Smokin deal on LBF HI Cubes...

This may or not be the type of post allowed on this particular forum but while at my LHS today he was selling over 500 LBF Hi Cubes, less trucks & couplers and jewel boxes or cardboard boxes as was the case with LBF if I remember correctly.

What you get is the decorated body with underframe.

They were all $4.00 per car.  Rob @ Online Trains bought them from former LBF owner Fred at a show in Portland, OR last weekend.

He had the following available in large quantities...

Stone Container
CP Rail
BN
BNSF
SRY
Columbia Cowlitz
MRL
Golden West

Rob also had some 50' gons.  All of this stuff is to modern for me or I'd of been tempted.

You can contact Rob @ 253-472-7732.  I am not affiliated in anyway with Online Trains or LBF.  I just thought I would pass it along.

No, nothing wrong with your post. We all appreciate sharing bargains with other members when you find them. I assume you have bought what you wanted before posting the sale.

Greg -
None of it fits my pre-1970 timeframe so...no, I didn't leave with any of it.

I do know that many of the guys here like that LBF stuff though.

I picked up a few. They are down to 9 CSX gons. Only double door cars are the GWS. The rest are single doors.

Is there any other way to contact Rob since I have to work until 4 and soccer coaching until 6 before I can even make a phone call?

Bryan, thanks for the tip!

I partnered up with a buddy of mine and we ordered 13 cars for $52, which also put us into "free shipping for orders over $50" territory.  $8/car after adding M-T's ain't too bad for these LBF's.

Thanks for the heads up, ordered 2 gons and 4 HiCubes today.  Great deal even when you add in the price of the trucks.

Got mine yesterday. Really fast shipping :)

USPS did a number on the box.
Some stirrups bought it. (Not the end of the world)

I got my cars today. Now the questions is, which MT trucks type would be the right one for these cars?
Your help is appreciated.

Ours had broken stirrups as well.  Box was undamaged....
EDIT: After reporting our issue, it appears the shop is taking care of it.  Refreshingly great customer service!

No broken steps on mine. I guess I was lucky.

Does anyone live near the shop? What type of cars do they have for each road name? I would like to order more. The MRL cars were the FBOX design (with a correct roof, which I thought wasn't the case on the LBF cars). They were not the standard MRL markings and they featured the lion's head.

Daniel -

My office is just a few miles from Rob's shop.  What specifically do you want to know?

I can tell you for certain that when I ordered on Sunday, they were all out of MRL cars.
