Latest from Athearn in N:
Bombardier Coaches (New Mexico (SWEET!), Utah and Sounder)
Mack B Cement Mixers
Weathered FMC and NACC boxcars
and the kicker
Fruehauf 40' Smooth Side Z Van Trailer
(ie...the Micro Trains trailer)
.
Granted Athearn has had the Fruehauf Z Van in HO for years, and in a single release they've released more roads than MT has on theirs in the last decade....but why spend the coin on tooling up an existing trailer when there is a billion other prototypes (in all eras) they could do???? Even the new Duraplate or 40' X-Post they've also released this month in HO would be sweet.
It's just mind boggling...
:'( >
Now all we need is some Rail Runner power for those coaches though....
Bandit MP15AC's and FEF 4-8-4's in HO though

Heh, it's the same as the M-T?
Well, the tooling is done so let them have at it!

It's good to see more trailers available. I don't get hung up on prototype fidelity on these things, I just want them to look better than the old ConCor and Atlas generics that have been around for years.
Afterall, they're just flat car loads! ;D

Great to see.

Those trailers are cool. Kinda pricey though, so they had better be awesome.

At least they're releasing 'undecs,' well almost, the "Owner operator" ones are just painted silver. But at 9.50 a trailer, they sure better be really really nice compared to the S&R ones. URL follows in case anyone didn't know about them:

They price out to $10 a trailer. On the street that will be about 7-8. Thats on par with Atlas and less then MTL 40' trailers.

I hope so, but Athearn didn't mention 89' flats (they did mention this trailer through) There is suposedly an exterior version coming out as well. They will then be doing 40' drop frames.

Hope Athearn doesn't do any "stand-in" locomotives in N-scale like they did in HO. That "Sounder" engine in HO looks pretty sad. :

I might have to Model Utah Transit Authorities new "Front Runner" commutter train which starts up this summer execpt the Stand in Athearn F-59PH locomotive is not a conteporary MPI Motive Power Industries loco, plus the drive train on these is old style more like original KATO GP38/GP 50 drive train.
