We definitely need to include this one...
If you ever wondered how our friends and family view us as hobbyists, this should answer that pretty clearly...
Not a valid youtube URL />
I especially like the camera work, and the Apollo 13 air ducts over the kid's head...  Good basement atmospherics...

Looks like some choice material being lined up here.  No offense at all to Zox, but when I saw the opening frame of that video I thought the 3 guys in the background were standing at a stadium urinal...  but then I just saw the "how to ballast with a vibrator" video on the A-board, so why not?

I gather the basement shot is the young Lee trying to decide between B&O and WM, right?  ;)

Finally, having read through the BLMA rolling stock thread, I thought it was time to upgrade the forum software to provide warning that portions of a thread have become inane.  For this thread, that warning would start with my post.  Sorry.

Boy Gary, for a new guy you sure cut right to the quick!
Here's my real contribution... ;D

Some of the place names have changed, and there's always bits and pieces getting upgraded, but this is the current configuration more or less...

Lee,

The audios are excellent (a bit loud, maybe). The videos are ok (but some of the coal loads are lumpy).

To me, it reinforces the marginality of onboard sound.  Most of the aural experience of a passing train is the rumble, clicking (if jointed rail), etc.  The engines are there for 20? secs max, then its all the pounding for the next few minutes.

I'm not sure of the realism of the doppler effect when a N scale sound equipped engine passes by.

I'm sure Ed would be glad to store it for you...  But when you get it back there won't be any leaves on the trees...

plus the towers will have been burned to the ground, the stations razed, and the track in awful shape.  and i'm sure the line would be reduced to single track.

I don't know about that, what's 3/4 of 2 tracks... gotta keep it real with the ratios you know.

And don't worry, Ed (and Lee)...

I've gotten permission from the Middle Division Comptroller (read as: my wife) to begin replacing the NJI signals with Alkem Scale Models LED PLs.

Dave is really Dave Popp. think about it, the layouts look the same. John Williams
is going to sue you for the music rights, see if your PRR lawyers in Philly will back
you. After watching I take that back, you could be the best N scale modeler I have
ever seen. You are Reid Brothers worthy - Elaine 1994 Seinfeld

Wow, thanks! <swellinghead>

I think it's hard to judge something as Reid Brothers' worthy.  Their stuff was original.  Mine is highly derivative.  There's nothing new, innovative, or original about my layout.  But it's fun to play with!

Dave, can I post the video of my train running on your layout?  It is, indeed, very, very nice.  I consider it to be one of the better layouts I have run on.

Iain (John) is a unique individual.  He's definitely headed somewhere in this life.  Don't know where, but...! ;D

I figure someday we'll hear about him on TV.  Something like...

"...as we enter Day 2 of the standoff, federal marshalls are still no closer to..."
