A Pennsy steam moment...

I took some pictures of the layout tonight as part of my website expansion.

Here are my three kitbashed steam engines simmering quietly together at LEW Interlocking:



From left to right:

H10sb 2-8-0 #8756.  It's a Bachmann Spectrum chassis with a chopped-down Minitrix K4 boiler and a B6sb cab.  The tender is also modified.  I did an article for the NTrak Steam Information Book (addendum) on it.  TCS M1 DCC.

L1s 2-8-2 #762.  Kato Mike with the GHQ pewter and brass conversion kit for the boiler, cab, and tender.  Still DC.

M1 4-8-2 #6811.  You guys saw me build this step by step.  Extended Spectrum 4-8-2 frame, spliced K4 boilers/fireboxes with new running boards and scratchbuilt pilot, "facelift," and K4 KW trailing truck.  210F75 tender on extended CC J3a tender frame, spliced K4 tender shells, GMM Trainphone antenna, scratchbuilt doghouse and induction coils.  Digitrax DCC.

Yep, I'm taking a break from steam for awhile.  I'm thinking second-generation diesels... ;D

This is the part of the thread where I start foaming about the PRR steam that I'm not up to building... yeah. It's that part of the thread alright...

And it'd be completely predictable of me to say "nice stuff Dave".

Well, sometimes you find something that works and you stick with it.

(but, to follow my own pattern, put that damn camera down to eye-ball level!!!!)

Looks great Dave . Your smokey tricks and terrific photography only enhance your realistic scenery .

Did the PRR have 2nd generation diesels ?

Thanks!  Yes, the PRR made it to the GP30 and SD40 era...  It died on 1 February 1968.  Merger Day.

Dave, are you willing to shimmy down here to New Bern for this weekend's show?  If so, I wouldn't mind seeing your steam in person again.

Sorry, man, this weekend's bad...  My wife is leaving Sunday for her 2 weeks' Reserve drill and she and one of my sons are both sick.   Sucks, too, 'cause I was starting to lean toward maybe going.

Hi Dave, I thought I said enough in another forum but this moment in time says a lot more. Congratulations on the wonderful modelling. It will be great to see what you come up with with regard to second generation diesels, I cannot get enough information on the Baldwin Sharknose.
