Here's what I never understood about the MDC/Roundhouse/Athearn 50' PS boxcars, why PS?  Micro Trains has the PS boxcar type completely covered in N scale.  Why not something with a diagonal panel roof and 4-3-1 rolling pin ends?  Greenville Car company, ACF, anything other than PS.  I know I'm not the only one who would appreciate this.  Manufacturers lose seem to lose site of this in N scale.  Makes me want to model HO.  Just kidding.  Thanks for reading along.

FWIW, this was one of the last cars MDC tooled up in N scale. Their first with etched roof walks.

The only boxcars in my collection that are worth that kind of money are the Atlas Master ones.  The detail on them, along with the ride height and paint work, is beyond compare.  Even the Intermountain 40' 1937 cars pale by comparison.  Aside from the roofwalk, I don't see any add-on details, oh, and whoopdy sh*t, there's a brake wheel.  The 1960's Yugos had that!

All the MDC cars I've bought over the years ran about $3-5 for the kit form, and $7 or 8 for the RTR.  While the paint and detail may have been less than extraordinary, you couldn't complain about the price.

I'll also be interested to see how these McHenry's look and operate.  The little spring thing scares me a little.

Show me who made the 50' ACF PD box and the Thrall 4750 with the same tooling before Atlas did...

Not to mention the 50' single door ACF car (the new one) and the ACF 3560 covered hopper.

It is... the 50' PS1 was MDC last new car, after they had gone RTR.

But did they do the double door car? I just remember Plug door and Single door...

They just say "jewel case", so no insert.

I seem to recall seeing adverts for the single and double door... I don't remember the plug door though.

The DD car is definitely using the MDC Tooling for the ends if it is new tooling...
