1. There will be requests for which decoder is the best one for a new engine before it's even released.

2. Multiple improper references to RP-25 when talking about specifying a flange depth for N scale.

3. More HO only offerings from companies who are supposedly big supporters of N.

4. Kato will finally retool one of their locomotives that haven't been produced in over ten years.  (I'm not as sure about this one)

5. Atlas will not do the C40-8 in N scale. (I know, too easy)

Bah. Humbug!

The rumour is that it is an atlantic and a ten-wheeler, but then, a mogul and an eight-wheeler with an all wheels live tender were supposed to arrive in July.  So far, those have been vapourware.

these guys got it coming:

PCM will pull out of N scale, citing insufficient demand for steamers like Challengers and Big Boys.

Athearn will somehow shake it's to-date overpowering proximity to La-La-Land, release a focused stream of desired new N scale tooling and paint schemes, and then be wiped out in yet another news-worthy California wild fire.
Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.

Y'all asked for predictions right?  I knew this one was on the horizon, some say it was insider information.

I predict LifeLike (Walthers) will shrug their collective shoulders saying, "Why even bother?", and will produce no new N steam in the foreseeable future.

I always thought that was their modus operandi about N scale anyway ...

I'm still waiting for them set a new course for their N scale output ...

I really like their structure kits, but that's about where it ends for me at the moment.

I have an undec 0-8-0 on order from the 2nd run, and I'm kinda annoyed by the bait and switch on the motor (did we say 5 poles? Haha we were just kidding!). If it takes too much work to make this run right this will be my last Walthers/LL loco for quite some time.

They've got some cool stuff in the pipeline (like the passenger cars) - I just hope someone in charge there finally realizes how important it is to "get it right" ...

Here's my longshot prediction for 2008:

Atlas will announce a hi-nose C420 in HO, followed shortly thereafter by the announcement of a N scale version of the same ...

1) Kato will anounced a SD70ACE and SD70-M2 and people will complain that it was not made in there road or its missing a rivet.

2) Atlas will make a new loco, but it will not be a 6 axle -8 eventhough is the most wanted loco by modern n-scale modelers.

3) PCM will anounced something in N-scale but Nscaler will not care.

4) Athearns will give us more UP steam, cool for UP modelers but how about the rest of us.
Which ever side of the track I am on is the right side.

Kato has ya covered! They will release all their locos in ATSF, UP, BNSF, and SP regardless of model.

That is quite possible, since a lot of folks on here are interested in rivets and eastern roads ..
