Mark's a good guy and he builds layouts like a maniac.  He's done us a great service putting all that work into the list.  Too bad he only frequents the A-board.  He should do himself a favor and surf around a little.

that shells were still commonly available and a relevant part of the hobby.  Kind of sad that there are still locos that were available 'once upon a time' but not  currently.  Mark4 shells are just awesome but still don't fill my TE70-4S gap...

I wish I could get another JNJ GP15 shell. They are hard to come by now. I think this Time I would take a different aproach and use Atlas Pilots and can instead of the months of filing I did to my last one.

JnJ certainly shows some very interesting stuff on its website. Nothing about prices and availability, though. Nice etched doors, both boxcar and reefer, tack boards, brakewheels, etc.

Short answer…

Nobody, not even JnJ. Longer answer, Walthers has a reasonable selection. JnJ himself has a good selection. He does thing in batches and Walthers buys in batches, but the creating and purchasing may not be in sync. Which means it can end up that Walthers has things JnJ doesn't have anymore and JnJ has things Walthers didn't choose to purchase and couldn't purchase when it was time for them to make a JnJ purchase.

(Since Walthers only buys from their distributors on a schedule that only makes sense to Walthers, how else can they put things on sale for 2 months but never actually have any in stock the entire time?).

To find out what Walthers has in stock do a advanced search and use manufacturer 344, pick the in stock checkbox (or you'll find yourself wanting things that aren't in stock) and 300 as the count and you should get 70ish items.

You can also email JnJ and ask for specific items, he take a bit to answer but does seem to be good at answering anytime I sent an email.

IIRC, JnJ actually requests that you email for availabiliy before you order.  As posted before, it may take a day or two, but he will get back to you.
