Hey it got the job done.

Rob,
From your vantage point if you would have panned the camera a little more to the right you would have gotten the family farm in the photo. My grandfather also farmed a couple fields at the next turnout to the south on both sides of the highway.

I really miss that area :'(

The KBS court photo, was that taken in Sheldon?

No, that was shot on Court Street in Kankakee, not far from the north end of the KB&S line.

As for dimensions, that's what TerraServer is for:

Lee's pix of the Walthers bridge sold me on the Walthers truss.

It has an appearance more like what I'm used to:

Plus it is more imposing than the Kato thing. As a bonus, looking at the Walthers kit, it appears that it comes with bridge shoes. :)

The angle on the end of the Kato bridge has come to annoy me (aside from the issues I previously noted).

I'll have to show you the pics of my scratchbuilt truss bridge it is of an old NYC design it is
an 11 panel single track span it is over 14" long it will be abandoned just like the prototype one was
it will cross my double track main. I'll post the pics this week and tell how I built it it took a while
working on it a little here and there.

Of course Bob is making these in brass for a bit more coin (reasonable for what you get though):

I get lots of detail photos of a bridge I may have to model someday because part of it collapsed back in the Fifties.

Yes, the diagram says five miles.  This is the Albemarle trestle.  Could you imagine doing a scale model of this thing?  I'd go crazy doing the bents.

"Pouring"? What is this "pouring" of which you speak? :)

That's over 600 scale feet of water right there, courtesy of Lowe's: http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=18425-1638-CC25/1405005&lpage=none

Eventually, some of this will be covered by land. The actual river I'm modeling flows under the five full arches--500 feet wide.

Not quite 165 actual feet of N scale bridge there, that'd be 26,400 scale feet ... (5 scale miles)

Ah, okay. I knew I had to be missing a decimal or two there somewhere.

I may kayak up there in a couple of years.  It won't be this coming year because my big trip will be to the N scale convention.
