I'm a little surprised they didn't spread out those C&O cars in to a more prototypical collectors set...  They look pretty nice, and there's apparently an interesting story behind them, but all at once at $30+ a pop?  They gotta be out of their minds.

Lee, the C&O Cameo cars will be released one at a time starting in April with the last one to be delivered in September.

On the other hand I really couldn't care less about M-T's "theme" trainsets (DOD, Pepsi, Smokey, Christmas, Barney the Purple Dinosaur, etc) as I am not even remotely interested in them. ::)

I only look at their "serious" models. :P

Well, I put the DODX set in the serious catagory - it seems ok from what we've seen so far. I know the underframes on those cars should be yellow though.

I think there are two things coming:

(1) set of four dodx 89' flats (runner pack)
(1) set of three dodx 89' flats with marine armoured vehicle

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but the DODX yellow 89' flats are relatively (5-6 years) recent. Before that this equipment travelled on a mixed bag of TTX and other flats. I remember seeing
these trains on Conrail often - and they had CR, MDTX, ATSF and other flatcars.

Yes, I agree that those DODX flats in that scheme are relatively new.  Probably newer than my era--barely--but I may get one for my military train if I can find somebody to split the set with me.

Why they would choose those over TTX or Trailer Train is a little screwy though.  Yet, typical.

It's an insider conspiracy to prop up the $50 plus prices these command on Ebay. :P
