I believe Kato is still using their own Japanese factory and not outsourcing to China.

I still have not found a source (English Language) where I can pre-order. Japanese glyphs are too hard for me to read! :'(

I would never be able to work in it seriously, but T guage fascinates me.

I'd really like to see what this stuff looks like once released. As near as I can tell, the only thing to be released are JNR commuter cars, so far. What kind of track and switches will be available? The cars might resemble MARTA's cars in Atlanta. Would Atlanta fit in 2 ft. by 4 ft. in T scale??  ;D ;D

That's correct, the commuter cars are it, and I'm guessing it'll probably stay that way. The track is sort of like roadbed track, but it doesn't look like it has ballast (not that one could much tell). No switches, and I'm guessing there won't be, either. Several accessory sets are being made--buildings, bicycles, people, cars, trees, signs, catenary towers, and other stuff.

Yes, the letter is from Japan, talking about the delay in shipping *from China* due to toy inspections.  So T gauge is being manufactured in China, hence the delay.  Kato is Japanese manufactured in Japan, and therefore not delayed by Chinese lead paint.  See where I was going now?   :-*

Dear Dealer,

 

Thank you for your recent order for 126-0301 N GS-4 Southern Pacific #4449 and 106-060 N Southern Pacific ”Morning Daylight” Basic 10-Car set and 2-Car Add on sets.

 

I am very sorry to announce that these locomotive and car sets will be delayed. At this point I have no confirmed delivery date. We will try to expedite the production; it has been moved until after Christmas.

Because too many people wanted them and they had to up the production significantly...
