Anyone have the March 1988 Mainline Modeler?

If so, I could use some information regarding the DM&IR double sheathed article.

I'm trying to get info about the 3300-3399 series outside braced double sheathed boxcars.  Mostly regarding the paint scheme they wore in the 60's but also about their construction.  I was wondering if this magazine will be useful enough to get a back issue.

Thanks,

Jason

Have you checked with Railpub (www.railpub.com)?  I've had great luck getting back issues there.

I'm not too concerened about finding the back issue.  I'm just wondering how complete the article is before I do it.

I have the issue somewhere... (will have to dig :-\)

I remember the article, there's a Hundman drawing of the car with some B/W photos (mostly 1970's era)
with some personal text about the cars written by a railfan. Not much info on the cars (maybe the number series)

Cheers,

I pulled it out during lunch, and don't think it's what you're looking for.  The article is about double-sheathed 36' boxcars in the 53xx series. Were there any "double sheathed outside braced" cars?  Maybe you're looking for single sheathed cars?

Yes, as usual, Mike would be right.  Double sheathed cars won't do me any good.  It all made so much sense when I wrote it. :P

All I really want is a 60's era photo of a 3300-3399 DMIR box car.  I have a couple of references to the delivered paint scheme, but I'm assuming that they were painted into the maroon with some sort of application of the "safety first" logo.  The yahoo group is for the historical members only and the color book doesn't have an example.

I can't read much of the missing lettering though...  ;)

Actually, looks like that one was still in the 1923 scheme:

Yeah Mike, you nailed it, that's the car.  That Accurail car was one of my resources.  I have what looks like a builders photo as well.  Thank you for those pics.  Until I know different, I have (want) to assume that they got painted into the maroon hopefully with some sort of logo.

Thanks again,

Jason
