Ideas for a new photo modual?

I have two photo moduals so far. One is suposedly a branchline in the woods with code 40 rail and no elivated roadbed. The other modual is a grade crossing seen in my first two articles. I feel these are both getting used too much and I would like to build a new modual.

What would be a good modual to produce? A city, or bridge scene or somthing totally different. I want to be able to get several shots out of it without boring the reader.

You could model a back wall of some building with 2 tracks . You could use either track , but the track not against the wall or loading dock of the building would be easier to put the wheels on the rails . Shadows could be problematic though .

Seriously.

Dan, always liked a shot of a train going across a bridge with a well done water scene.

maybe a small though girder bridge going over a road I find that alwys makes a cool scene.(and you could add some strip malls along the road like Ed suggested.

Here's another one: a signal with a convenience store and a dirt path from the tracks to the store.

The scene itself is a story...

if i were to do up a photo module, i'd have an at grade junction of 2 railroads.  the scene could be very dense if in an urban environ, like Chi-town.  even in the rolling hills of Ohio, a diamond could be an interesting model - look at the PRR/N&W (NKP) junction at Morgan Run - a tower, a double track main (PRR), a setout track, a single track main (N&W), a through truss bridge 1/4 mile to the north on the N&W, and a rocky ridge to the south.  very scenic...

of course, you could just do a strip mall - make sure it has a Hooters.

I vote for Steve's idea about an at-grade crossing of two lines. I'd make one line a double track, Class 1 carrier, and the 2nd line a rickety short line with jointed rail and deferred maintenance. Put in a tower under the short line's control, maybe an interchange track as well. The scene itself would be relatively timeless, enabling you to shoot whatever era you choose.

Robb,

Is "crick" western Virginian for "creek"?

I know you didn't ask me, but I've had to explain my own terminology before.
Robbman's may be different, but here are my definitions:

Crick: narrow enough to jump over, low chance of getting your shoes wet.  (also sometimes used for seasonal creeks)
Creek: wide enough to make you pick a narrow spot to cross, or there's a good chance of getting your shoes wet.
Stream: wide enough to get you wet, and make you take more than few strides to cross, you may even have to wade through a bit of water.
River: yea you're wet, probably swimming, better be ready for strong current, and likely to take more than a couple minutes to cross.

you mean a WaWa, a WRX STI, and a guy with a 40oz fountain drink can be part of the scene?

The first thing I thought of when he mentioned that was the Royal Farms down on Boston Street next to the Canton RR...

A couple guys, and they came in bottles, not cups :)
