I swapped out a Bachmann 0-6-0 mech and it at least runs around the track.

That looks pretty good, there, oldrk.  I never would have thought of the Bachmann 0-6-0 mechanism, although it looks like you actually used the 'prairie' mechanism.  (Which is the same mechanism, it just has the idler trucks added).

Did you affix the shell to the power chassis, or is it a 'test-fit only'?

Nice job. though.  Now I will have to do one.  Now, to find my other shell.....................................

If memory serves me the only thing new is the 0-6-0 mech. The rest is from the original incuding the leading truck. I believe it is held in place with Goo.
