Weekend Update - 10-7-2007

Spring is finally here but somehow I found time to start with this Atlas RS3m (or RS-3u). the nose is just chopped down, the cab is rebuilt out of parts from a LL GP20, Atlas RS3, Atlas GP40 and BLMA, and I did modify the fuel tank. the drive was easy to convert and the model still has all wheel drive. the parts are painted with CP gray to see where I have to use the file and sandpaper again - there are still a lot of spots...   :-\







when done this model will wear a two tone green and road number 560...

Fear not... The Miller was on sale, and my usual flavor (Eau de Pottsville) was not in stock at the particular emporium I visited that day.  It was merely a placement and weight test... ;D

It would have been nice to do, but I knew that "Somewhere West" layout is all Digitrax
DCC and unfortunately, the Trainmaster still uses some problematic Westinghouse
direct-current traction motors that were in existence in 1955.......

Surely they would have let you set it on the tracks to buzz for a few minutes while you popped a picture.  Such an enigmatic piece would have been a highlight of your overseas adventures!

So what's next?  Guam?  The Sudan?  Antarctica?

I just want to know what line of work you're in that you get to globe trot, and always in synch with some model railroad event...

Not much going on here,trying to inventory my train collection,and straighten up the disaster area upstairs.
In the clutter I found my old 2'X4' N scale layout,I might just clean it up and run some stuff for awhile.
So far I got 333 items inventoried in N,HO,S,and O gauges.
And I haven't scratched the surface yet. :
Well back to work!

I spent the last week hopping across the southern U.S. to retire my helicopter.
Davis Monthan AFB is a sad, sad place.

She flew in under her own power, and did a great job getting us there.  Sadly, she's likely to never fly again.  The only hope is a DRMO sale to a civilian company in about 20 years.  Either way... she still went proudly into that good night, after outliving her designed life-span by 5.5 times.
