Got started with handlaid Code 25 Z scale track. This represents a change in plan also.

Details on the whys and wherefores here: http://jamesriverbranch.net/new.htm

.015 x .025 wire for rail

interesting ... anybody done this before? (I'd like to see pix).

Actually, AFAIK Tom is the first person to post pictures of handlaid Code 25 track other than myself, because I had the wire custom-made for my own handlaid track in N and Z. There are a number of pictures as well as details on the process of handlaying the rail here:

http://jamesriverbranch.net/diorama_2.htm

There are also photos of a handlaid Code 25 N scale turnout and more information here:

I'm pretty sure I'm the first to use Code 25; however, a number of modelers in Europe use Code 30 flat wire for handlaid track (2mm Society: http://www.2mm.org.uk/ ). I received a sample of the wire from one of them and it's nearly identical.

I'm always interested in this stuff as i used to scratch build C40 turnouts from rails and ties "back in the day".
