MTL now has both sides of each C&O car shown on its website. I can see why some of these are sooo pricey! There's an awful lot of passes though the pad printing for each side.

I ordered a set anyway ...

And there's why they don't bother listening...

cuz beggars can't be too picky  :-X  we're lucky if they even get the "N&W" the right size.

After decades of incorrect size lettering on Atlas 100t hoppers it's looks like they finally fixed the artwork on the upcoming N&W 100 tonners ...

And brownie points to PCM for at least doing enough research to realize that in the 1940s, the "N&W" was 17", then from 1951 to 1970 it was 24". Damn, they look good on paper ...

Is there a prototypical basis for those C&O cars?  Or have we injected yet another potent serum into the Collector nervous system?

Yes, according to the MTL information accompanying the cars, they were painted for a shareholder's meeting - no doubt parked on the Greenbrier's siding. Same idea as the GN's "circus cars". At least one ran around with the scheme for over 15 years.  Not bogus this time, that's N Scale Collector's specialty.

and for the terminally bored I leveled criticism at M-T for the goof on the N&W runner pack on Trainboard (in hopes that Mr. D'Amato might read it and maybe even do something):
