Some More B&O, EM1's and a "President" Pacific from a few days over exactly 50 years ago.

View of EM1 676 the engineer gets as he is about to mount the cab. No wonder little kids used to want to be engineers!

EM1 673 clears her cylinders as she heads for her train. Note the B&O kept them clean.

"President" Pacific 104 in storage at Benwood, WV. These were not painted black, but a fairly bright Royal Blue (should have used color film).

Next week, more "President" Pacifics.

hmmm, according to this sometimes accurate site they (The Presidents) were painted olive green:

http://www.steamlocomotive.com/bomuseum

But they seem to be coming up short on the data as here is President Madison streamlined in blue:

http://www.northeast.railfan.net/images/bo5303sa.jpg

I guess this means initially they were olive then when streamlined went royal blue? Fortunately this site tells "the rest of the story":

thanks for making me learn something!  8)

From Sunday @ Cove Rd.

The font of the road number is unusual.

Nice weathering!

Three shots taken from Virginia Ave tower in Wash, DC, fall of 1972.  CSX sure changing the track and signals from what it used to be.

What is that switcher?
MLW S13, 1000hp 6 cyl 251 engine, similar to the RS-23 only without the ARR B road trucks.

Bob, as usual, your DC area photos are awesome. I love the catch of the Joanna Mine GP40-2 in there.

One correction.  Year is not 1972 (CR hadn't been invented yet!!!).  Probably 1976 or 7.

Got a problem.  Just loaded 150 photos into my PC.  Got enough to send to Proto Photo for awhile.  Problem is what do you want first.  Got a D&H trip from early 70's.  NRHS convention in DC with WM and Souther F's,  some shots on the bridge across Anacosta River in DC with some interesting units,  Potomac Yards 1970's, 60's Horseshoe Curve (not much), Japan from a bus 1968, B&O shops in Cumberland tour, and various misc.  Anybody got any preference?

Just a photo to show the 2.3% grade on the Maine Central Mountain Division in NH. This is Easbound, at around MP P84. The camera is tilted in no way to make the grade look steeper.

I WANNA SEE THE BOAT MOVIE!

Yes... I'm in N... Also HO and 1:1
