Walthers Announced 3rd N Scale Passenger Car

Gregg:

You missed one! Walthers announced two new N scale passenger cars, both due in February.

They also announced a Pullman-Standard plan 4140 with fluted sides:

The Pennsy had 14 of these cars, delivered in 1949, for service to the south. They were named in the COUNTY and RIVER series.

Another release I can't personally use, but I am thrilled the Walthers seems to be stepping up the pace on releases.

Oooh, ACL.

Might not be bad to go along with those four FEC E7s I just got from BLW.

The fluted side cars were announced with the smoothside cars.  This is not anything new.

Unless you want to count them as different cars... in which case you're on #4 with the smooth and fluted side baggage cars.

Although the original 4140 10-6 announcement stated "smoothside or corrugated sides", many (if not all) of the part numbers for the fluted cars were not listed in the online database until this week. I actually have a hard copy print out of a search on "Walthers N scale prr passenger" products that I printed a few weeks ago (along with an HO scale counterpart). They were not included then.

The do not appear in the "Announced in August" listings. Nor did they appear in the "Announced in ___" listings with the original announcement of smoothside 10-6's.

Oddly, they now appear in the "Announced in June" listings!

Jerry, this is simply a new set of roadnames that have been announced for an already exisiting (or already announced anyway) car style.  Roads like Amtrak and ATSF from the first run of roadnames will be fluted as well.  It's not a "second new car".   It's also not a giant conspiracy.

It's also not a giant conspiracy.

It's an economy sized conspiracy.
