No modeling this weekend but I did find several hundred slides while on my quest to clean out a spare bedroom.  95% railroad related.  As usual I plan on getting them placed on CD's.  In the future in Proto Photo look for a CR RS converted with EMD engine in local service in DC, lots of Alco's on the D&H (including PA's) and EL,  WM and Southern F units in the same shot, some shots from the early 70's of Horseshoe Curve, some late 60s shots in Japan and others I haven't had time to look at yet.

This week the wife and kids were away at the beach, so I had an opportunity to catch up a bunch of those 15 minute projects that I just never have 15 minutes for.  This included fixing a headlight in one of my choppers, re-numbering two Port of Baltimore WM hoppers (one for me, the other for ebay), adding structure lighting to the temporary part of the layout, cleaning the wheels on a bunch of locomotives, etc. etc.

Here's the only thing I did that was halfway photogenic.

I stayed up too late, and spent too much money on Ebay.  Hopefully the packages will arrive when the Mrs. isn't looking.

In and amongst that, I demolished two old closets and framed up two new ones, patch the hole in the kitchen ceiling where I installed a ceiling fan a couple months ago.

I also went to work and slept.  Other than that, it was a quiet week in Lake Wobegon....

Well, recent rainy weather and the impending end of summer have compelled me to start hangaring the R/C planes and go back to the trains. My layout has been basically dormant since about May, so I did some track cleaning and ran some trains. Nothing fancy. Ran a few locos around my test loop for a while, fired up the new Roco MultiMouse controller (I find I like it better than the Lenz handheld I've been using), and shifted a few cars in and out of a few sidings on the layout.

Yup, still fun.  ;D ;D ;D
Never force it; get a bigger hammer.

It's been over two years since I've posted here but, I have kept track of what's been happening while we were touring this big beautiful country in our motor home.  We've bought a new house and semi-settled down and I have a train room once again.  A couple weeks ago I started on a new layout and while photos of lots of plywood are not awfully eciting, i am very happy to be back railroading.  Here are a few shots of what I've been doing the past two weeks.  Dick

Peter from NScaleKits (who took over Alan Curtis' N-Scale line) asked me about yellow DODX flatcar decals. With his help and hours of internet search I found enough (confusing) pictures to design them.

Of course I found now another DODX flatcar, painted redish, that is similar but not indentical to the yellow.
Here is a link to the picture. If anybody has some close ups on the lettering, I would appreciate it if you would send me PM.

Those red DODX flats are not the ones used for the M1A1/2 tanks.  If you look at the photo you will see that they have two axle trucks not the three axles.  Also they are numbered in the 41000 series.  The DODX flats for the M1A1/2 are numbered in the 40000 series.

Thanks

Late as usual but I've got a good excuse for that! My first child, Eva, was born Saturday!

Before she came along I managed to get 3 of my 4 mainline switches wired into the DS 64 and do some other tidying up of the wiring in this area.

I also managed to get the MRL SD-35's speed matched...well, sorta. I think I can do a better job so I'll redo them I think. All the loco's in this shot are now speed matched w/ the consist they are in. Pretty cool to be able to just grab a consisted train and run up and down the big grade on my layout. I think I'll end up putting the SD-35's in helper duty.
