Really neat.  Chuck could get that for the shop.

Are you volunteering to rent a truck and drive it from Friedland, Wisconsin, to San Rafael, California??  ;D ;D ;D

I always wondered what happened to that layout.  I saw it in a hobby shop while on a bike trip to Baraboo WI. in the late 80's I think.  Too bad MR doesn't do layouts like that (and the Clinchfield) anymore.

I was about nine years old when I saw those articles in MR borrowed from the library.  It's neat that something like it can exist intact, when so many projects are rebuilt/torn down/forgotten about.

It looks like a real nice layout, but I would imagine the trees are getting a bit crackly by now. The Wye looks cool, and some WP GP's would really look good on it. ;D

That is cool looking. Wish I has the space for something like that in the shop.

I think the aforementioned "Wye" is the Keddie Wye portion of the layout.

That is a classic. I recall seeing the Clinchfield for sale somewhere too.

I noticed nobody bid on it... Must not be any local Z Scalers there. That 4 sided modular layout that the populat N Scaler built a few years ago sold, and it sold from Washington State to a guy in Norway... All because they were willing to prepare it for shipping. Customer pays!

Robert, I ask the guy who sells the MR Western Pacific Layout if he is willing to ship it to Switzerland. That was at the time when the price was 3500$. He was not interested and said that it would be a big problem. I told him that we ship cars all over the world with no problems, so there must be away to ship that Layout. Again no interest. Now the price was down over 1000$ and nobody bit on it. What a shame for such a beautiful Layout. This Layout motived me to go in to Z over 20 Years ago. :-)
with best Regards

Yeah, I don't understand why it couldn't be shipped, especially if the buyer pays.

Yeah, I don't understand why it couldn't be shipped, especially if the buyer pays.
International shipments require far more than money to be made successfully. You can't just call UPS to ship something like a model railroad. You would need an experienced packer to build the shipping cases, a freight forwarder to arrange the land and ocean transportation, and a customs house broker to arrange for the exportation from the US and importation to Switzerland. Since Switzerland is an inland country, bonded transport through France or other countries must be arranged as well. Chances are, the seller would not know how to even begin to make these arrangements.
