No, that's not the big announcement. I have a friend who's pretty well connected in the model train mfg world, and the big announcement is from MTL. They're gonna be releasing a system to restore "genuine" factory air to previously opened jewel cases.

 ;)  :D  ;D  :P
Ooooooooohhhhh  ...  What will the NSC do now! I guess this means "Mint" will be restored to the auctions.

But I don't like "Mint" can I have "new car smell" instead?  ::)

The purpose it to restore items to factory condition to make them valuable again. As you know, there are some mis-guided individuals out there that open the jewel cases. Now, collectors can restore these beauties to the condition that God intended.

Now NSC need not get in a tissy. NIB will still command the highest resale price, and these restored "classics" would be know universally as "Classics Restored And Purified", or CRAP for short.

I don't hate MTL. Infact, they are the third most numerous Mfg in my fleet (over 230 cars). I just don't understand the collector thing. Therefore, they must have fun poked at them. Rest assured, every one of my MTL cars has been out of the box and run on track. I do, however, collect the factory air and sell it on the black market. It's true, I've nothing better to do right now as I wait for my next interview to arrive...

You know, if I were MTL, I'd scent the air inside the plant so you can tell.

Of course, then you'd have to let the factory air out to tell. Isn't THAT a conundrum.

Most needed item
in Nscale.  A reliable detector to confirm the presense of factory air.  Followed by a fingerprinting kit to confirm that MTL employee fingerprints remain on the box.  Later a portable DNA test to prove that only MTL employees and approved collectors have actually handled the package.  After all we mere runners should never be allowed into those most hallowed halls...

Maybe a new type of paint finish on MTL cars that repells other paints and chalks. An attempt to 'Tom Mann Proof' their treasure.

This all seems rather silly though, all this effort of keep the factory air in and the runners out. The simple solution is to permanently seal the jewel boxes at the plant so the air remains original. This way, everyone's happy... and if you're a runner, just slap some MT trucks on the jewel case and enjoy. Thinking about it, this would solve the ride height issue, too!

That's not how everyone does it?

Actually makes the ride height problem worse... but it shows off the undercarriage detail very nicely.

I can just hear it now ...

... "and remember folks, stop by and make a donation for District of Columbia state car to get its bubble so it can come home and run on track just like any other car" and now to return to our regular programming.
