New stuff at N Scale Collectors' Convention?

Do ya s'pose that the reason only Kato had any real N scale announcements at the National Train Show was that the others were were saving their blockbusters for the N Scale Collectors' Convention? (Relax, it's a rhetorical question.)  ;)

Anyhow, who is attending with a digital camera that can promptly report to fellow Railwire asshats any new tidbits that might be revealed there?

Thinking about it, I just wish some of what I've ordered from Chuck this year would show up! I've got ten cars and a locomotive "preordered".  ;)

One or two more questions if anyone feels like asking...

- Atlas - any update on six axle GE's?
- Kato - any chance of an NS C44-9w(C40-9W) coming?

Almost ended up there - turned out we're on vacation at the shore this week, so no way I'm driving up to CT - ALONE - for one day.

But my wife asked if we wanted to come with her on a trip next week - where I asked - Hartford!

I am going to Hartford for the NSC.

I will take a digital camera and will take pictures of anything interesting I see.

I will ask lots of questions.

I can't promise I'll be able to post any kind of feedback before Sunday night at the earliest.  If I can find a computer with internet access in Hartford, I'll log on and post as time permits.

FYI - there probably won't be any news before Friday; NSC "swap-o-rama" is Friday AM, which is probably the first chance the manufacturers will have to display anything.  Public show is Saturday, and the manufacturers breakfast (where we get all the good rumors) is Sunday AM.

New News at the NSC ...  Doug Hickman will reset all highly inflated MTL pricing he cooked up over the years to actual market pricing

Would someone please ask Kato, regarding the Broadway Limited...

1) Which baggage mail car will be included (BM70m or BM70nb)?

2) Confirm Budd 21 Roomette included.

3) Confirm ACF 4-4-2 included.

Thank you!

Ooooh, forgot a biggie...

Ask Kato about the Tuscan Red color... they previously used a too light shade on their E8's. Push them to work with the PRRT&HS Modeling Committee, in confidence, to get the color right!!!

Ain't that the truth.  And if it isn't an MTL car, he'll bad mouth it during the live auction.  I sent a scratchbuilt Flexi-Van through the auction last year.  He was the auctioneer, and didn't even want to read my description of what it was.  When a couple others finally talked him into reading the description, he comes to the line about "Z scale couplers installed" and adds his own comment of "Yeah, that's prototypical" in typical Hickman fashion and sarcasm.

Earlier in the day I had asked him why certain people (Mark Jirousek) were allowed to put more than 2 items in the live auction.  (Rules clearly stated 2 per person).  Hickman's response was, "He's special and his stuff goes for big money, so we get big money too when it goes through auction."  I doubt he recognized my name on the Flexi-Van later, but I suppose it's possible that he remembered me questioning his ethics earlier and decided to get me back by bashing my auction material later.

Stay away from collectors... they serve no function in society. :P
He probably knew that in addition to taking the model out of the factory box, it had probably been spoiled by actually running on a layout...

I would also appreciate some comments from convention-goers about: number of attendees, size of Ntrak set-up, hotel location (any shops or restaurants within walking distance) and any other general observations.  I'm not at this one because the more I looked at it, the worse it got.  Farmington?  Please note that I already have reservations for June 2008.  Thanks to the KSons it's actually IN  Louisville.

Thanks,
Mark

Wow, I did not hear of any N-Trak going to at the Love Fest this year. I thought it was a straight ole typical NSC event.

BANTRAK is doing the lobby layout.
I believe there's also a larger NTRAK layout elsewhere at the convention. Wasn't paying a lot of attention at our last meeting.

You mean you'll actually RUN trains?  I had no idea you could do that!!

Let me send this up to you so you can show it off to the collectors... hopefully there will be defibrillator close by...
