Ebay question

Gang,

I've bought a handful of things on Ebay but don't really have experience selling stuff.  I want to sell an N scale Life-Like 2-8-4 that I modified by adding weight, hard wired a decoder, shortened the drawbar and added electrical pickup from the tender.  My question is what is the most effective way to list this so the most number of people see it when they do a search?

The trick is to get hits on top level searches - Just a couple of suggestions:

Be sure to put "N";   "Steam";  "2-8-4"

I would list the manufacturer both LifeLike and LL

I would list the roadname (ie guess Nickel Plate) as NKP and Nickel Plate

When models are really of interest to other RR modellers, ie. Conrail freight cars to NS modellers, I would add NS to Conrail listings as well.  For yours:

eg:

N Steam Lifelike LL 2-8-4 Berkshire NKP Decoder Upgraded!

I would add "Custom" to that list .

I search Brass , Special , and Custom in N Scale daily or more .

Thanks guys.  That's just what I needed to know.  I've stumbled on some listings before that I think sold below what they could've gotten if they had been easier to pull up in a search.

Keep in mind that you have a 55 character limit in the title so you have to narrow it down to the best percentages rather than everything you would really like to be there. I would leave out the Life-Like since you can list it in the Life-Like sub category.

"N Scale Custom 2-8-4 Berkshire Nickel Plate NKP w/DCC" would be good

Try looking at the listings from the high volume, long time N scale Ebay sellers like thefavoritespot, egatco, mrtrainz etc. for ideas.
They sell thousands of items per month and have it pretty well figured out.
