RailFest in Altoona, Pa., This Weekend

This weekend is RailFest in Altoona, Pa.

Special events at both the Altoona Railroader's Memorial Museum and the Horseshoe Curve. One admission gets you into both.

Excursions from Altoona up the mountain, around Horseshoe Curve, to the summit tunnels, and back, will once again be powered by Juniata Terminal's masterfully restored ex-PRR E8's.

I'm also told that a request is in to run the recently restored NS F units for show.

The weather forecast is perfect.

Look for my black Suburban starting in Altoona, behind Station Mall, around 10:15 a.m. and working up the mountain over the course of the day on Saturday!

Damn I can't make it this weekend.  Will try the Horseshoe curve webcab to see some of the action.  What times are the train suppose to round the curve?

No way!

Are you going just for the day? I've been thinking about doing so myself. Gas would be a lot cheaper if you only have to pay one way...

Looks like we got us a meet going on...

Lee will be with me... Max is coming down from Phillipsburg for the day to meet us... and John Drye is coming up from Virginia.

Cool!

Here's the webcam address:

If this doesn't work, just go to Horseshoe Curve and you can find it easily.

Yeah, that's a long drive.  And you'd have to leave Ohio too...   ;)
