Back in the '50's, when I was a teenager chasing trains, the Erie and Lackawanna had already Dieselized, so these three photos are all I ever took of their operations:

Erie NW2 418 at the Jersey City engine terminal:

Erie RS3 922 on the turntable. Yes, that's snow on the ground in the shadow of the roundhouse:

A Lackawanna MU train races across the Jersey Meadows:

Next week, the Cheimseebahn and the B&O Museum.

This is the nerdiest thing I'm gonna post, but I drove to Strasburg to get THIS photograph. It's one of the brackets where the train phone antenna was attached on an ex-pennsy GP30.

I noticed these when doing research on detailing one of these, and am still stumped on how to do these in N.

A few B&W shots from the early 70's, taken in my hometown of Shippensburg, PA.  PC freight switching the ex-PRR freight station.  Sure wish I was taking photos years earlierat this location.  They had a gon setting in this small yard that a tall tree was growing out of the dirt in it.

After reading the B&O signals in my area may not be here long:
http://therailwire.net/smf/index.php/topic,12950.0.html
I drove to Newton Falls, OH to take some pics. On the way I drove though Lordstown and saw some old PAX cars:

2 of them still say New Your Central in the corner:

From Newton Falls station/tower:

Anyone know what the screen is for? Some have it some don't. Took a bunch more of just signals, but they all look the same.

That wagontop boxcar looks an awful lot like the one that was sitting on the house track at Laurel, MD, in the mid-1980's. Wonder if that's where the museum got it?

Chris, great signal pics-thanks!

I should mention too that the above re-signaling info was courtesy of Tony Dannemiller, the
"Prez" of the Sterling railfan group.

Here's one that I don't see being replaced in the near future tho-it's on the old B&O (CL&W) now
Ohio Central/RJ Corman line here in town & still operational as far as I know-at the crossing with
the NS ex CR ex PRR main:
Mitch
They're not "Crown Victorias"-they're known
as "Police Interceptors"

Chris,
The screen covering those CPLs are to protect them from rock throwing idiots.
There used to be a lot in Baltimore back in the 80's.

Those are AWESOME photos. Wow. I love those 1001s. And three of them pulling across the Delaire? Wow...

AWESOME photos, Bob. I adore older stuff from the Philly area. I know I'm not the only one who would love to see more.
