How do YOU weather a Diesel road switcher?

Here's my method.  This method is for diesel road switchers that are reasonably dirty.  (Passenger locos definitely require different method, btw:

1)  Remove shell

2)  On shell, use Bragdon Enterprise weathering chalks:   Using old paintbrushes, cut down very short, I put a coat of 'dust' overall.   Put gentle coat of black chalk in the grills, on the roof.   Put some very light touches of rust as appropriate.

3)  On the frame, use Grimy Black, dry-brushed on the trucks.

With a fairly fast method like this, here are results examples:
