The following is from a press release sent out by Al Westerfield.

"Having reached full retirement age, we are putting the business up for sale. We intend to continue in business until [it] is sold or August 2011, whichever comes first. Serious buyers can contact us for a prospectus. Until we cease business, we are reducing our work load, having cut off dealer sales in April. We also no longer offer custom casting or bulk casting sales. We will continue to offer new kits, but at a slower rate, and to fill orders with our usual dispatch."

For more information on Westerfield, visit the firm's Web site at www.westerfield.biz.

I hope to see Al and his wife in a couple of weeks at the PRRT&HS meeting - they usually attend. See what I can find out there. Wish he could have been convinced to make a few kits in N scale.

And the first to make old ORERs available and affordable to the common researcher by putting them on CD-ROM...

I met them in Toronto at the National Train Show.  Both Al and his wife are just nice people.  They will be missed.

I read the ad to Rosemary and she asked me if I was thinking of buying it... uh, no...

Amen to that!  I wish we had a shrink-ray for those nice kits.
