I got a couple of the diesel ones (MRC-1636) for the Atlas locomotives.  I put on in a GP38, one in an SD35 and fried the third.  They're okay - sounds are generic.  Some are good, some bad and a couple horrible.

MRC is also doing a drop-in for the KATO SD70M/AC4400; same type thing except the speaker is under the back section of the board instead of mounted on top.

Well looks like PCM has been upstaged.  Now the Pennsy M1 will never see the light of day.  These obviously are first generation units so I suspect that with some additional work we will get either specific sound effects for each locomotive or programmable units.

Correct me if I 'am wrong but didn't MRC do the steam sound modules for the new Athearn Challenger locomotives?                                                                                                                           Nate Goodman (Nato0. Salt Lake, Utah.

Yes, and they were not very well welcomed according to the HO'ers on the Atlas board. Many are replacing them with SoundTraxx units.
