Introducing myself....

Hello, my name is Kevin & I've been modeling N scale for the past 10 years.... wow time flies. I'm currently building my new layout, the Allegheny & Cumberland. It's a point to point, triple decker freelanced D.C. CSX / Conrail, early 90's somewhat based on M&K Jct. to Sand Patch " Yard ". My main interest is coal trains... so I gotta have a mine, & helper service. I've posted pics on other forums as well & I was recently directed to this forum. This looks pretty good. Anyone else modeling the same theme, I'd be happy to hear from ya ! Here's a few pics for now.....

Here's looking down the rails into Sand Patch yard.....

Helpers sitting at Coal Fork Jct.....

The mine local entering Coal Fork Jct., waiting it's turn to jump on the main to take it's load to M&K....

The mine...

Engine facility at M&K Jct....

That's it for now, I'd be happy to hear your comments & suggestions !

Thanks guys.... actually, Tony got his ideas from me...lol. Ever since I came back to model railroading...( I did HO years before I got involved in N scale), I absorbed what I could from Tony's coal articles. I still wanna get his video, but I did recently aquire his  Model Railroader's Guide to Coal Railroading....WOW ! I guess I enjoy the grittiness of coal hauling. I'm not trying to copy him whatsoever, but perhaps we have the same vison ? Though I bet he counts more rivets than I ever will...lol.

Welcome aboard Kevin. I really like your layout, even if it's CSX!  ;) ;D

Hi, Kevin-

Welcome to Railwire!

I don't post often, but I read as often as I can.
This is a great bunch of folks...you'll find some really good feedback here.

I'm modeling coal railroading in the 1950's, so I'm not real up on modern coal hauling,
but looks like you've got a great feel for your locale.

With a triple-decker, how are you getting between levels?

Thanks for sharing, and welcome!
