Haven't heard any feed back on the new KATO NW2's
They have been released on Santa Fe so far; any
additional roadnames or undecs coming ?
Being a KATO it should run great  :)

Some pic's here.

My LL SW's run slower, but the Kato looks way better especially in the trucks.

Kato will eventually do them in the same roads they did in HO, but sequentially. That is, they will release one road at a time, so better hope you're flush the month your road comes out. Next release will be after a decoder is made available.

Looks like they are useless for powering some of the things I had hoped for.

Thanks Chris and Third,
Do you think an Undec will come out? I want to paint and decal some in the B&M 1200 series;
I have 2 sets of Northeast decals to do the Black W/the hood stripes and/or I can do the McGinnis blue
which I have plenty of decals  8)
Fat chance of Kato making a B&M version; We are about as far east as you can get ! >:( >:( >:(
I will buy two or more of them, but I will wait a while and see what Kato does.

John,
I put my SF shell in Chameleon for a few minutes and then scrubbed off the numbers off the cab, this left the back of the cab still yellow, but without any raised numbers. The hood has it lettering removed as well with just the yellow at the nose remaining. I didn't soak the sill because I don't see it leaving and lines through the new paint.

Alcohol might also work, but I didn't try. And the Chameleon might have done more is left to soak longer. For me its ready to paint black (Erie) with no ghost line showing through.

Thanks Chris,
I just happen to have some Chameleon, The black paint job should cover everything A OK
I can see this NW 2 plan is beginning to come together; I will check around if anyone else makes
the decals for the original black sceme; The Northeast decals are too thin and brittle to work with.
Sometimes they take and sometimes they fall apart.

Try Testor's decal sealer or Dullcote on those Northeast decals.

Tell me about the trucks.  Will they fit in other mechs? Photos of 'em?

Trucks and the whole drive train are way different than any other normal N scale diesel:

Worm is built into the trucks.

This is with one side of the frame gone.

Looks to me like if anything is to be done with these a new motor will be needed.  Not that the Kato motor has problems, I just don't see it fittinig in any critters.  However, that drive train gives me some ideas.

My two just arrived from Chuck.  I'm blown away by them.  Everything is perfect*.

*except the paint job.  A little too much of an amateurish job from Kato for my liking.  I plan to strip 'em and repaint 'em, so it is not a concern for me.

By doing that you continue to prove to Kato that "everyone loves SF and UP! They are our best sellers!"

They fail to recognize that people buy those because they overproduce them, they drop in price, and they get stripped and painted into the roads people really want.....cough cough RDC's in BM
I WANNA SEE THE BOAT MOVIE!

Yes... I'm in N... Also HO and 1:1
