Excellent work and pics Rich, thanks for sharing!!!  Finally (after helping my son throw together a few 1/72 fighter aircraft) here are some stripes:

Apologies for the poor focus tonight!  As you can see, the large decals still need a few more passes with MicroSol/Solvaset.  Road numbers on the side and numberboards are next.

PS -- the red in these photos is much brighter than in person -- if winter ever ends here in the midwest, I'll get some outdoor pics...

Here's a shot of the DCC install -- a DZ123 soldered to the (modified) Kato circuit board.  This is the mechanism for 608:

And finally, 611 all done:

The 3-chime horn is a modified Kato 4-chime horn.  I ordered some 3-chime horns from Atlas, but they looked "undernourished" to say the least.  The train line is a BLMA part.  I used a sludge wash on the lower part of the shell, and chalks on the trucks, hood, and roof.

I'm still not 100% happy with my photos -- under normal room lighting, the red looks good, but in these pics it's too "bright".  The weathering is a little washed out as well.  I may try shooting some pics with a gray background to see if that helps.
