Yeah, I remember Bob. He was from the Shenandoah area originally I think.

You would have to be a new comer not to remember him . For the short time he was a forum member here and on the Atlas board he was one of the cogs that helped topics become informative gems with much searched up info he freely shared .

You were pretty close. Bob was from Waynesboro VA, which is on the eastern edge of the Great Valley of Virginia.  That would be about 30 miles from here. I had always hoped to meet him when he was visiting Virginia. That meeting will have to wait till we all join that modeling club in the sky.

Funny you should mention that.  I had the same thing and the same reaction about a month ago.  I ended up deleting it, but what a great guy.  I never got to meet him personally, but we drafted him into the "Arizona Outlaws" virtual club of ATSF N scalers modeling in Arizona.  Bob was so successful about blowing our cover on some of the annual practical jokes that the only way we could keep up the ruse was to buy him in, which we did!

Bob was always informative, sometimes pointed, and definitely knew the formula for having fun with this hobby.  His handle said it all.

He loved his Lifelike FA's, and he crosses my mind periodically while I'm running mine.

I always enjoyed reading LongTrain's comments.  He always had plenty to say, but was never condescending or annoying or mean.

He seemed like he was a decent and gracious person.

This was during my visit to Verne Niner's layout shortly before he died.



And this is his single Atlas RD 4/5 pulling 85 cars on the Sun-N-Sand layout during that visit



I miss him greatly!

He was a great guy.  We had several "conversations" over the years although we never actually met.  He's still missed.

Hey,
   We use to email each other. We were taking the same blood thinners. I had an incident where my blood thined out dangerously. They got it under control. I told him & another friend to have their levels checked more often. 2 weeks later,he had the same problem,but was caught too late. :'(  Needless to say I was very upset.He was a Prince of a Man.
