Weekly update - January 14, 2007

What? The month of January is almost half over already?? And I haven't done a damn thing on my model railroad.  :-[ :P  Did make reservations at the Sheraton Suites Galleria in Atlanta for the World's Greatest Hobby Show on February 3rd. Will drive up Friday and drive back Sunday. Haven't decided whether to make the show my first stop Saturday or go to the Zoo and try to see the panda cub first.

Anyone else planning to attend the WGH show?

What have y'all been up to the past week?? Please share, with photos if possible.

I'll be at the WGH show, except it will be in Pittsburgh on January 21.  :)

Not much this week in the way of photogenic modeling. Mostly I've been working under the layout. I'm getting ready to begin the next 12-foot segment, so I've been starting some wiring prep, cutting some lumber to size, and handing money to the pretty girl working the checkout at Lowe's.

I did get to try my new custom decals this week. Having a batch done was far cheaper than I'd figured, and the quality is good. I just HAD to try them out, so I took this MDC hopper lettered for CMO, stripped off everything but the data, and put the new decals on. I haven't yet clearcoated it, so you can still see the decal "edge," but I'm very happy with the quality.

Finally, I can have a decent-sized fleet of B&LE 3-bay offset hoppers!  ;D ;D  Even the end reporting marks are clear and legible. My quickie pictures do not do the decals justice.

I've rearranged the siding at my chemical plant and used atlas c55. It is easy to work with, just having a little trouble weathering it.

A single GP40-2 leads loaded hoppers on high line.

I'm lazy and computer illiterate so I'll just ask you to go to Sunday Night Foto Fun on Atlas.  I posted eight photos of buildings that I've recently completed and I don't want to re-enter all of the photo addresses.  I'm sure that there is an easy way to do that but I don't know how.

GO, Bearz!!!!!!!!!
Best regards,

Roger

Planted more scrubby lookin' trees along the right-of-way this afternoon.  Man, am I tired.

I'll probably be going to the WGH show in ATL since it's an easy drive.  Is this show what used to be called the Greenberg show?

I'll post another photo in the "Foreground, Middle . . . . " thread to keep the discussion together and share what I learned today.

I worked on this to distract me while the Ravens struggled to move the ball Saturday.

I need to plant some trees, finish the waterfall, and finish detailing the bridge, but I'm real happy to have a new spot to railfan!

Here's the same spot a few months ago...

No, this is a new show sponsored by Kalmbach, Atlas, Lionel, MTH, Bachmann, and all the other biggies and run by a professional expo company with a BIG budget. I'll be there Saturday Feb. 3rd. It's about a 5 to 6 hour drive for me depending on where I stop for lunch.

Thanks for stomping on my earlier post, Lee. I had to retype this as it timed out the first time waiting for your pix.

Built an IM boxcar kit:

And it was indeed rather fun to do.

Yes, I want criticism on my roofwalk:

I've still a fair bit left to do.

I also spent a large portion of the day making brass pieces for my ladle cars.  I decided to shorten the car slightly.  I have a hunk of brass bar stock to turn into the ladels.
