I'm quite happy with the way my 44 tonners run >> smooth as silk. Thanks to Tom Mann who used some I beam to mount the motor on. I borrowed that idea and glued down the copper / brass pickup strips and soldered the engine to the end of the strips using some wire and added some weight.

I have Chris's sideframes on the black one, I still have to convert the gray one and paint it. I still have to paint both but its freezing cold weather down here. (I'd better be polite and not use Kiwi slang).

Hmmm I wonder if I can fit a decoder in one? I guess I'll have to try unless a crazy American is going to have a crack at it? ;D ;D

How's it going Mate!! I was trying to find your 70 tonner pictures they seem to have gone!
You should post some of your Catford and ? pikkies!
Did you fit the decoder sideways (across the cab) in the cab ?
I'm sure a few here would like to see some pictures of that decoder being fitted.

Thanks for the helpful pointer, even the low res scan for the auction shows more of the front than any photos I've seen of it, it'll help quite a bit making complete decals.

But I have a question for folks. I didn't notice it on pics of other locos, perhaps because they're later (timewise, the as delivered scheme was pre-WWII) and I notice a poling (is that spelled right?) pocket on the loco. Now why would anyone be trying to shove a loco around with a pole? Wouldn't it be much heavier than a boxcar which is what I thought was the typical thing that got poled around?

The loco pushed a pole placed in the loco poling hole , the other end of the pole was placed in a poling hole on the freight car . As the engineer stomped on the gas , the loco would move , the pole would move , thus the freight car would move . The poor slob who had to hold the pole was aways in danger .

X2200 South had drawings 10 yrs ago or more.   Big feet under that loco.  At least not much fiddly detail for the trucks.
