Same format as last month, this time, with the oft requested Caboose!

Sorry John, maybe next month we'll do racks...

Cabooses are quite cross era. Even though they're not as plentiful today as they once were, you can still find them, and their uses often fit right in with our layouts.

So get to it!

Any hints on how to do the cupola braces? They are, obviously, flat and very thin. I could do them with wire very easily, but then they wouldn't be flat enough. I don't think that styrene would be feasable; too easily broken.

You can get flat wire as well.. not sure where to find it, but it's out there.

I think I may have even seen it at ACE hardware.

Detail Associates sells flat bar like that. It would be right next to the brass .010" wire and stuff like that at the hobby shop.

I don't know what sizes they make, but I have 2 different ones myself.

Couldn't find anything at all that was usable in my case, even on Google. I might just end up going with regular wire.

I am thinking of maybe Atlas brake details. I will have to do my own truss rods. Wire grabs, everything.

I also have a bunch of proto photos.

I'll get the number off the flat wire when I get home later. I know my LHS carries it and they don't have much of anything.

I save all of my etched brass and stainless steel frets, they are a good source of thin gauge metal.
