I just added a Loksound 5 Next18 to a BLI E8A from the most recent run. It was easy but the thing that really stood out to me was the quality of the sound. I was not sure what BLI provided in terms of speaker quality enclosure volume. However, they did a really good job.The engine runs smoothly, the sound is robust and not tinny and all I have to do now is tweak some function/lighting controls with my Lokprogrammer.
My Atlas SD35s have had consistently good speaker perfomance (speaker in the fuel tank).Yesterday I added a Loksound to a recent run GP38 (speaker i the fuel tank) and the sound was less robust and thin.
Once again, for the best speaker performance, the speaker MUST be encased in an airtight speaker box, with only one speaker surface exposed, the other speaker surface completely encased with every single little hole plugged.Cheerio!Bob Gilmore
Bob,I expected the GP38s to sound as good as the SD35s since, on visual inspection, the speaker in the fuel tank looked similar. Apparently it isn't -- functionally.
I had a similar experience with the Atlas sound ready GP35s and GP38s (both with factory speaker with enclosures in fuel tank). The sound out of my 2 x GP35s are a lot louder than the sound out of the similar 3 x GP38s.
