Settings when Making Own Decals with Inkjet Printer?

I used to be pretty good at this and made some impressive decals in the past with an Inkjet printer. However, it's been a long time and I think we may have gotten a different Inkjet printer since then. Right now, I am trying to figure out the best printer settings to print onto (white) Inkjet decal paper. This paper is quite glossy, so I tried a couple of the glossy photo paper settings and it seems like too much ink is being applied with those. There's some smearing and the ink starts to crack and spread out after a few seconds. Seems like it's close to printing sharp and clear otherwise. I'm using an Epson ET-3760. Setting suggestions? I don't have a lot of decal paper to keep experimenting. Thx!

In making my inkjets..

I use, "Photo" and "Best" for Type... and than,
I have used the "Photo" or "Gloss Presentation" for Paper settings.
Change, your paper to..  "LETTER" size as well..

Is your decal paper really old?  I had some ancient paper laying around and got results that sound like what you're describing.  After getting new sheets they were beautiful prints.

Thanks for the replies! Yes, the paper is probably pretty old. What brand paper are you using?

The "old" stuff I had was Testers.  The new stuff is one I hadn't tried before but I've heard good things about it, "Hayes Waterslide Decal Paper for Inkjet Printers"

Good luck! -Mike

Funny, the old paper I have is also Testors and I ordered the Hayes paper on Amazon before I saw your reply.
