Ha!  What is this a three-railer type mindset N scale thread and not a full scale exploration?  Say it ain't so!     JFRTM!

I understand the diagram, but am not understanding why I'm seeing two types of tenders.  One flat deck as modeled by BLI and one with a streamlined faring as shown in the video clip (and that would presumably change the 13'6" dimension?)

I think your diagram matches this tender and the video tender, but not the tender BLI tooled.

Same tender, different years. The PRR maintenance crews requested lots of changes to streamlining. Note the two fold down fairings at the water hatches. Those were likely a PITA to fill the cistern, as the loco would have to be perfectly placed for the fill pipe to clear. Looks like BLI modeled the thrifted version. So while a change in styling, and no change in the deer class (maybe an a or b subclass was added) the removed height made filling more manageable, my guess.

I know you're just yanking my chain, and I appreciate it!  The reality of it is that I'm exploring more of this great big tent we call model railroading.

I have my HOn3 RGS where I stress over correct brake rigging on individual cars and where I've legitimately placed individual weeds and bushes in accordance with prototype photos.

And then I have my almost-plausible but also Wild-West-fantasy N scale Colorado Midland with its roundy-round racetrack plan.

And now I'm doing something akin to Hi-Rail with T-TRAK that I hope will capture some of the coolest features of The Standard Railroad of the World without becoming an exercise in rivet-counting.

There may well come a day when I go back to having a more permanent N scale Pennsy. The realm of possibility also includes a scenario where I strip these T-TRAK modules for structures and scenery and use them on a more thoughtfully-designed permanent layout laid with code-55 and where the foobies are replaced with more correct kitbashes, scratchbuilds, and 3-D prints. Who knows. But for now, I'm just basking in this warm feeling of returning to familiar territory.

I get it, I do. I have an equally unhealthy obsession with actual high rail stuff, mostly Standard Gauge/Wide Gauge (depending on Lionel vs Flyer)

This was last weeks project, godawful big flange toy wheels on a Lionel motor circa 1930!

Even I couldn't resist getting my hands on a Lionel original Flying Yankee and bringing it back into running condition. That was fun, and a break from the tiny N scale mechanisms and electronics.

With the intervention of a proper PRR head-end car (in this case a B60b), this issue becomes a non-issue entirely.
