I was today years old when I learned DI products are still being produced

To some degree anyway thru Intermountain. How did I not know this until now? They have new(?) N scale Maxi-IV sets available and I just purchased a set thru a dealer.

I got excited till I re-read it and saw Maxi IV.... I really need Maxi IIIs.  :facepalm:

Picked up a DI Maxi-III on the Bay a couple weeks ago for $100 shipped. There’s others on there now but for quite a bit more due to shipping charges.

I knew about Intermountain acquiring Deluxe, and they came out with a (somewhat limited) line of intermodal containers a few years ago, but I didn't know about the Maxi-IV re-release.

Didn't Fox Valley, now Scale America acquire a lot of the Deluxe Tooling? I know FVM was doing the containers, and heard he had other projects planned before being bought by ScaleTrains.

The Maxi-IVs through Intermountain are old stock, not new runs. They've always had them and they've been on their order forms forever. IMRC haven't really promoted them and dealers haven't order them.

Fox Valley acquired some of the Deluxe tooling and released some of the 20/40/48 containers - these were available through distributers like Walthers and Intermountain and others.

Crazy that these are remaining old stock! Stuff doesn't typically hang around forever like that anymore.
