Is it just me or is that a large bell?

That was my gut feeling, and now that I had a chance to look into it - definitely yes! I'm thinking 20% or so too big.

The bell housing should not be wider than the headlight housing.  :D

Anybody have a problem with ditch lights in these locos?
The one I'm dealing with now (Norfolk Southern Paragon 4) has one ditch light constantly on (as soon as it is placed on a powered track) and the other one never lights up.  No response to the ditch light function either. Did a CV8=8 decoder reset and behavior did not change.  Wiring inside looks ok (but it was a major pain to get the shell off).

2) they missed painting the end of the handrails yellow (they got this right in HO).

FWIW, Similar to Kato.. I don't think BLI is painting handrails in N... Everything is color matched plastic..

Actually I should have asked another question:  do the ditch lights on your model work? If they do, how do you turn them on and off, and when (if at all) do they alternate?

According to "spookshow.net" (a very handy website), the ditchlights are controlled by F7. And they strobe/alternate when you blow the horn.

Thanks Mark - should have gone there first.  The model seems to have defective decoder and is going back to BLI.
