What Did Santa Bring You?

I went to the final Greenburg Train Show being held at the Dulles Expo (closing forever, sadly), and snagged a Rapido GP-40 in Richmond, Fredericksburg & Potomac in HO Scale.

Santa brought me a bottle of wine, and three different shipping delays.  For whatever reason, with planes and computers, the USPS has trouble delivering what one guy with 8 reindeer and a sleigh used to do by himself in one night.  Apparently 2 shipping delays, and one... 'well Dad, I ordered it on Dec 7 and I'm pretty sure they shipped it, you should have it by now.'  That last being something on my wish list from Railsmith, so I am hoping it was just the Xmas rush backing up shipping, and not lost forever in that shipping vortex that swirls around Indianapolis and prevents packages getting to Grand Rapids and forwarded on here.

I got a glorious 9inches of white powder while visiting my mom and brother in the great white north. Got to ride The Death Machine again and take a run down the driveway for my dearly departed co-conspirator Matt. Kids and mother in law contributed to the railroad fund and I ordered more track. My long awaited SD45s should be close to arriving when I make it home so good times on many fronts here.

With my assistance, my wife procured three 3-D printed coaches (Erie two-tone green) from Volkmar at Interurban Models.  We opened the box upon receipt to verify no damage, and she promptly stashed it until the 25th. My photos do not do them justice; I think the camera was overwhelmed with the greenery.



Technically not a Christmas present, but the Erie E-8's from Pioneer Trains arrived in November. Also beautifully done.  I consider these a birthday present to myself to celebrate turning 65 this year:

And lastly, a new book about The Auburn Road.  Nope, not becoming an NYC modeller, but I lived close to the Auburn Branch when I was in high school, and saw a couple of PC trains running through Pittsford and Brighton. My Dad, being an SPF, wanted nothing to do with the NYC or PC, so no Kodak film was wasted on them...
