Hi Folks,

I just ordered a DCC Ready Athearn F59PH in N scale.  I'm looking to put ESU into it, but am wondering what the DCC interface/plug is in this unit.  The Athearn website says 21 pin, but I can't believe that would fit in an N scale model.  I think that must be a leftover when they produced the N scale documentation from their HO version.

Anyone know what is inside?

Thanks.

Bryce

The Kato narrow hood drop in board will fit, the 58741.

Given that it dates back to 2011, I don't know that there even is an "interface". I think the whole board is probably the decoder -

Thanks for the pic, Mark.  I'm assuming it has been updated since then, but who knows.  Looks like 58741 would go in there.

OrangeAnon, Thanks for the tip on which decoder.  Assuming you have one, is there a place designed for a speaker?

Yes, there's a circular cutout for a speaker. You can see there's a speaker installed under the board on the right side of the pic Mark posted. Personally, I mill out that spot to fit a larger rectangular enclosure for a more typical sugar cube speaker.
