This time I'd like to show you a little bit of the production proces.








In today’s world of 3D printing and Artificial Intelligence, it may sometimes seem as if everything comes straight from a computer. At RAILNSCALE, we take a very different approach. Every design is created in-house, based on authentic technical drawings and photographs. Our painting schemes faithfully capture the original details.








RAILNSCALE Collectibles are produced with precision and then carefully hand-painted by our skilled partners at Brawago in Poland. This highly labor-intensive process ensures each model is truly unique. Finally, every piece is presented in a stylish showcase box.

Yes indeed! If you imagine that a little car as the Renault 5 comprises 4 painted parts, requires 6 different paint colors. In total the painting process comprises 21 painting steps.

Yes, painting and assembling is a very time-consuming task.
The 3D printed model parts are also well done but I was wandering it it would be possible to make the body shells thinner?  Also, could anything be done to improve the print quality of the "windows"?  Those to me are weak point of the otherwise very nice and unique models. 

In the last few years 3D printing has made huge advances in print quality and print resolution.  I remember the earlier RAILNSCALE models printed in much lower resolution which looked like the Shapeways FUD resin with wax support.  RAILNSCALE model now look like they are now printed using a SLA resin printers. Those (depending on the brand and model) can have pretty high print resolution which should make it possible to print thin-wall shells and smoother surface "windows".

Thank you very much for the nice feedback.

Reading thinner material: yes, with the current printing technique the wall thickness could be reduced somewhat. On almost all car models the sides of the window openings are painted dark grey to hide the optical thickness. I'm pretty conservative regarding the minimum wall thicknesses I use. This is partly because of the geometrical stability and because there are many handling processes. The last thing you would want to have is breaking parts.

The windows are always a discussion item. We've looked at Kristal Klear, vacuum forming and 3D-printing. Kristal Klear is too man dependent and to prone to defects and the final results are not that good. Vacuum forms are clear, but you end up with too deep recessed window surfaces. 3D-printing fits the best in the complete process. These windows are glued into the body shelfs.

For the windows, there are some experiments to improve the clarity. Printing steps are unfortunately still visible. No sanding or polishing is involved. Clear coat is applied to the surfaces.

At RAILNSCALE, every product is designed entirely in-house. The process begins with a thorough search for documentation, photographs, and technical drawings.
The two-dimensional plans are transformed into a precise three-dimensional model, created directly to scale so that every detail essential for authenticity is faithfully captured. To allow the car models to be painted, they are divided into four or more components.






A colour scheme is then defined, and decals may be created if required. For our webshop, we prepare professional product presentations to ensure our customers are fully informed.





A first prototype is then produced, carefully inspected, and—once it meets all requirements—approved for production. At that point, the production team at Brawago takes over. These prototypes are also used to create promotional material.
