This is a two-week update as I was unable to get on last week . . . . .

My track is painting is moving forward with application of the Railroad Tie Brown.  This required the use of an airbrush so my friend Kyle kindly brought over his equipment.  With this in mind I elected to try and get all of the main line trackage done, so I applied the grey primer coat to the Dawson Creek Subdivision track as well:










Then it was on to the Railroad Tie Brown for all of the main line trackage.  The Floquil paint sets up fast so Kyle followed behind me with the rail cleaning block as I sprayed:










I have also made progress on my Provincial Museum tank cars.  I have been focused on all of the plumbing to go onto the underframes, including air lines, steam lines, oil and water lines, and an MU electrical line for the auxiliary fuel car (on right):






With this work now complete I can move on to detailing and adding the tanks.

I completed track and block wiring for E. Norwood; Now I need to hook everything up to the control panel toggle switches and power cabs, and wire up the LEDs and signal switches on the control panel.  However, since I'm waiting on a couple trim pieces still (decals) for the last switches on the control panel, I put that aside for now. 

The decal revisions wrap up the PRR H22a project;  I sent out a couple sets of N scale kits (body, trucks, decals) to those who inquired about them;  I also sent a pair of the Z scale ones to a retailer as samples and maybe they'll be for sale before long.  I could see doing short runs of 3D kits for the Z scale community.. speaking of which:

The availability of autoracks in Z scale is terrible.  AZLs are a bit modern for my era and difficult to find either way.  So, since I'm a sucker for punishment I started design work on a Z scale autorack project based on this TTKX prototype.  Looks like NYC had a bunch and they lasted into Conrail.  I'm planning to do one with sides, one without.  I'm going to try print the corrugated sides but the backup plan is some etched or styrene corrugated siding.  Maybe a job for PPD. Here's the design so far--the bones are done but I need to add end ladders and some details.  The biggest challenge I forsee will be how to keep this from warping while curing.  Robust supports will be a must.  I might make the decks a separate piece, but we'll see.  Finally, I'm gonna need some Chevy Camaros for this project since that's what GM made in Norwood..I'd prefer the '69 but it's more prototypical for 70's-80's version.

Restarted the tugboat work with PRR Tuscan paint and some interior paint and details. A captain and first mate and some LEDs, outer nav colors and an interior light. I am going to stay proto color on the lifeboat. Added the LIRR heralds to the stack and weathered the spark arrestor screen and the upper stack. Can’t wait to light this tugboat, just got to dim the crap out of the green and red LEDs so they don’t blind me. Just have to glue it together after adding glass, wire it up and add remaining details with a few deck hands.

I came very close to breaking my streak of finishing at least one locomotive every weekend that I've had going for the past month or so - but I managed to finish this one up tonight. Modified a Rapido GP38 to model one of the NS ex-SOU GP38ACs. The GP38AC is not that different from a straight GP38, but does have a different blower housing and dynamic brake hatch, and the air filters on the Southern units varied as well. I didn't go to the extent of modeling the slightly different stanchion spacing - decided that wasn't worth the effort and risked having slightly misplaced handrail holes that would warp the handrails, which would look worse than just having the slightly incorrect stanchion arrangement. The blower housing and filter/dynamic housing were 3D printed to match the prototype 2846.

@BCR_570   Tim, just out of curiosity-- what is the plate of baking soda for?  If that is, indeed, baking soda and not a "performance enhanced modeling substance".

Yes, the plates are baking soda.  My layout is in a small apartment bedroom and the baking soda has helped absorb the paint odours.

Finally got the MTL M1150 replacement parts to the point where I'm more or less happy, so threw some paint around.

Left one has ERA blocks attached and has USMC style smoke grenade launchers. Right one has only the attachment points for the ERA blocks, US Army style smoke grenade launchers, and is missing the side panels on the turret.
