HOn30 0-6-0 Chassis (Chassises? Chassi?)

For an upcoming HOn30 project I'm considering, I need a reliable 0-6-0 chassis that won't break my (very limited) wallet. There's the Bmann 0-6-0, but that suffers from split axles. The Imon PU-101 C chassis is good and is whimsical looking enough to fit with my pre-existing engines that use a TU-Koppel chassis, but it's hardly ever in stock anywhere and it's always expensive. I could also try designing my own chassis, but if I'm being honest I have no clue where to start with that. With that said, are there any other options for me?

Desired driver size and wheelbase?   In decimal inches or mm or standard unit?

Take a look at some of the MicroAce steam, that's how the Atlas 2-6-0 and 4-4-0 got done.   Good quality stuff.

Also look at some of the Kato Japanese steam (check out Plaza Japan for these).   High quality.

Plaza Japan stocks quite a collection of what's lovingly referred to as 'critter chassis' from various manufacturers, most are ultra tiny and most have 3.5v motors with high speed and low torque.  But most have dimensions in the description.

Chris333 and I have been working with Toma drives to do N and Nn3 0-6-0's, that's a honey mechanism, but very, very small.

Old Bachmann and new Bachmann are not the same; they do sell chassis and parts online, that split axle thing on the old stuff is true and notorious but the newer (Kader?) stuff is pretty darn good.

I'm going to create a mechanism for this locomotive but I need to finish the one i've started first. I need to find screws for the drive rods to attach to first (for the project I am working on).
The Evemodel 36" ho scale wheels are the correct size for this model FWIW.

There are also the vintage 0-6-0 chassis from Arnold Rapido, Minitrix and  Fleischmann N scale locomotives.  Most (or all of them) should have metal gears, and are usually reliable runners when properly serviced.  They will have large wheel flanges, and rapido couplers.  The rapido couplers can be replaced with Micro-Trains couplers if you prefer.  And the deep pizza cutter wheel flanges can be ground down to become less deep, if you're using code 55 track. 

People have been using these chassis for 50 to 60 years to build HOn30 locomotives.

Maybe you should be looking at a good 4-6-2 chassis with 70-80" wheels in N instead of an 0-6-0.   Trix is pretty bulletproof in the vintage field.
