Dazed by some good progress, I tried out some more iconic liveries of the 40/50ies. All cars cannot be considered as "models". To make it quick and simple, they are all based on the same paired window HW coach (MTL copycat). Some are close to an existing prototype, others are "look-alikes", and others just "foobies". Perhaps I will make more prototypical cars later, but the challenge here was just to match liveries.
It starts with a Lackawanna car. I guess that similar cars once existed. The Atlas Trainmaster has a darker grey, but I can live with it. At recent visit at Steamtown Scranton I noticed that "Lackawanna grey" is not a well-defined color. Trainmasters were in passenger service at Lackawanna, so with a baggage car this could make a matching train.
Next is a New York Ontario & Western car. A free interpretation, the livery is correct, but not the design of the car. The EMD FTs didn't either pull passenger trains, but I have at least an "evocation" of a NYO&W passenger train. "All aboard" to the Jewish Alps
Now a Kansas City Southern HW coach. I think a similar car actually existed.
Last is a Richmond, Fredericksburg and Potomac HW coach. Probably not prototypical, but not totally fantasy. The grey is much lighter that on the Life-Like E8, which is too dark in my opinion. Always the same question: should we paint the right color, or the wrong one from the commercial equipment we bought?
