Striping Broadway Limited Lettering

I have some BLI hoppers that I would like to remove the lettering from. I don't really care if the paint comes off or not, but I don't want the old lettering showing through the new paint. Does anyone know how best to remove the lettering? So far Isopropyl alcohol and Testors Easy Lift Off are both failing. They both lighten it, but don't remove it fully.

How long did you leave the ELO before wiping it off?  It can take a long time.
You could also try Naphtha. VM&P Naptha, Ronsonol lighter fluid, or Coleman camp stove fuel.

Either way, cut a small piece of paper towel the size of the lettered area (smooth toilet paper works well), place it over the lettering, and moisten it with the stripping solution. Leave it there for at least an hour.  ELO will not evaporate, but you might have to reapply Naphtha multiple times as it evaporates.  Hopefully that will soften the paint enough to be able to wipe it off.

I will try this technique. I was dipping a q-tip in the solution and rubbing the model with it. The main effect I was noticing was polishing the plastic...

Just to upset everyone and to use a method you tried but it didn't work, I use 100% IPA and a pencil with an eraser on the end of it.
The method is:
Pool the IPA on the first letter and use the eraser end of the pencil to rub off the lettering.

I use this method on hard to remove lettering and it usually works  :D

I suppose having six of these hoppers gives me scope to experiment with all these new techniques.

My memory is not what it used to be 20 years ago!  What's old is new again.  :D

The eraser method is the clear winner. Quick and easy. Takes longer to scrub the rubber/alcohol mixture off than it does to remove the lettering.
