I am getting close to finishing my 3D printed K-M 4000. I printed the shell in my AnyCubic Mono2 with standard resin. I airbrushed Tru-Color Aspen Gold, handpainted the Tru-Color aluminum. Acrylic paints for the black, gray and red. I made internal supports for MT couplers, shimming to height (not yet mounted). I made the handrails with 17 thousandths steel guitar string. Windows and lenses were made with Gallery Glass clear. I need a few more thin layers to flatten the glass areas. The rear light was made with Gallery Glass tinted with red acrylic paint. I designed and printed triple horns, painted aluminum to mount on the top of the cab.
I had problems with MicroScale Rio Grande decals- they crumbled. I bought some MI-12 to reinforce the decal film. Stay tuned.
The body is held onto the Atlas SD-9 frame with sponge from electronic component packaging- friction fit. The decoder is an ESU LokSound 58923, with an OWS 8x15mm speaker.
More to come- need some repairs and touch-ups.

Finished May 2. I used MicroScale decals with three coats of MI-12 to prevent the crumbling, Tru-Color paints, added MT couplers for a Bachmann Dash8-40. Final seal with satin Polyurethane spray. I used anti-static foam pads to hold the shell on the frame. Tested- runs and sounds good. Pulled 7 passenger cars with no issue.
