EMD F7A & F7B – Pennsylvania



The new run of EMD F7s are rolling out. First up is Pennsylvania with both an A&B set as well as an individual A. The A units have separately applied Trainphone antennas.

The EMD F7s feature AZL’s 7mm motor, dual flywheels, prototype specific details, metal stirrups, directional controlled LED lighting, optional front truck with mounted coupler, blackened metal wheels, AutoLatch couplers and they come DCC ready.

@ztrack If it's not too late... Conrail's SD60s did NOT have black noses.

For some reason people LOVE putting black patches on the top of Conrail locomotive noses, but as far as I know it was only the SD70s that came that way.

Also, for the record, the SD50s far outnumbered the straight 60s and were externally virtually identical (since you're not doing the unique marker lamps). You might want to think about SD50 numbers in a future run.

Conrail SD50s are also on AZL's list of releases for this run.

AZL does the entire run of all announced schemes all at once.   So it's too late for both 60s and 50s regarding the nose.   It is possible that the black is pad printed, and thus can be removed fairly easily, but not 100% on that.

Oh yeah, I mean, of all of the Conrail Crimes it's one of the easiest to fix. It's just a bummer that anyone would have to.

I AM impressed they got the walkways right. That's the BIGGEST Conrail Crime that manufacturers get wrong.

Was it standard practice to paint the walkways black or was that a modern conrail thing?

Standard practice from day 1.

They sometimes look blue because they applied the black to already painted units without a lot of prep so it tended to wear off quickly.
