Anycubic M5s pro

Was surprised and recieved an Anycubic M5s pro for Christmas.
Been reading and reading and watching videos and just might put some resin in it next year! LOL
Was wondering if there is a better slicer program to learn from the start rather than the one that comes with it?

I've used Chitubox since I got into printing with no real issues.

Lychee is another one I know some use and like, but I haven't used it yet.

Do slicer program's performance benefit from a computer having a dedicated graphics card?

I just use the Anycubic slicer software and it only takes a few seconds to slice.  I doubt a graphics card is needed.

Congrats on the new printer!!

Another ChituBox user (the free version) and been very happy with it.  What can make it very easy to use is finding the settings for the resin you are using and use those settings in ChituBox or whatever slicer you are using.

I use Siraya Tech's Build resin for everything I do (strong, tappable, flexible and great detail) and Siraya tech has the settings for it on their website for different printers.  You can save those printers and resin settings in Chitubox so that you don't have to figure out all the print parameters and enter them.



Above you can see I have two different printers entered and also see that it sees the settings for the 'Build' resin and loads them automatically.  I got great prints...



... from the first one on without having to figure out any of the settings for the resin.

I've used all three of the slicers mentioned so far, but finally settled on Lychee Slicer Pro (subscription version) because of several features the others didn't have at the time I subscribed. 

All of them are updated regularly, so their features also regularly change (hopefully becoming more versatile in the process). 

Out of all three, the least versatile IMO is the free Anycubic Photon Workshop although it is becoming more versatile lately and is receiving some good (not excellent) reviews.

Frankly, you can't go wrong with either Lychee Slicer or Chitubox and most recommendations are to stay with the free versions unless you're getting deep into it...which you aren't yet.

Elegoo came out with their SateLite* software recently which has support for a large number of (non-Elegoo) printers. https://www.elegoo.com/pages/satellite-3d-slicer  I don't find it good enough to switch from Chitubox but it's always nice to have another option available.

Anycubic just upgraded their slicer to version 3.5.x .. it's actually pretty nice.  I use it more frequently, especially when I need to repair a model - as happens sometimes when using a model from thingiverse or tinkercad and converted to .stl

Chitubox I use an older version .. the new 2.x upgrades I don't like  .. Lychee is OK, but there is nothing it does thats worth the subscription fee for me .  Most of my railroad related models are angles and shapes used in structures, so I don't need "fancy"
